Santa Teresa di Gallura
Santa Teresa, set within the rounded rocks of the Gallura region, is one of the most sought after tourist spots in the North of Sardinia. Apart from the beauty of the beaches and the territory, the area offers many forms of entertainments and a vast choice of hotels, restaurants and bars. Thanks to tourism this small town has become an important destination on the map, not only for the connection with Corsica, but for the tourists from all over the world. Santa Teresa di Gallura is in fact the point of Sardinia closest to Corsica, so much so that in a clear day you can see the coast of the French island in the distance. From the port in Santa Teresa there is a Ferry that links the two islands daily.

The Beaches
Santa Teresa Gallura can boast of some beautiful Sardinia's beaches. Beside them, can be found countless wonderful creeks and coves, everyone with unique traits. Singular geographical position allow to find a sheltered place with any wind condition.
Rena Bianca (white sand) is the Village's beach. From the church square, lanes and steps go down to the sea. The beach is sheltered from the western wind by the isle of Municca and the islet Municchedda. The eastern side is protected by the promontory where the Longonsardo tower stands; finally the southern winds don't hit the beach 'cause they are contrasted by the hoses that rise above the village. In nice weather you can admire the white cliffs of the corsican coast (only 11 miles far away). The beach, 700 metres long, is covered with very fine sand that on the water edge has a pink reflection for the tiny fragments of corals you can find there. The water colour goes from the thousand tones of blue, to the bright turquoise and green and it's always very clear. The shallow water, for some metres from the coast, is suitable for children. It's equipped with a ramp for disabled, showers and toilets. You can rent beach umbrellas, canoes and pedalò as well.

Capo Testa Left :This beach knowed as " Taltana" has a clear and transparent water that remains low at some meters from the shore. Both beach and depth are maden by a very white and delicate sand. Winds show themself with a light breeze from south-west and west. It' s sheltered at all winds, from northern (Tramontane), north-east (Greek), east ( Levanter) and south-east (Sirocco).
Capo Testa Right:On the narrow isthm that links Capo Testa to the rest of Sardinia, you' ll be amazed at the magnificent beach called " Rena di Levante ". Soon after a first stretch of flat rocks, you can notice the beach of "Capicciolu" also named "of Granites" for the large number of facing granitic rocks you can find there, and it also hosts some remains of uncompleted Romanic Age columns. This beach is sheltered from almost all the winds except from the north one, but that's very unusual in summer time.
Santa Reparata Bay: If you want to get there, follow the road that from the village goes to Capo Testa, turn left when you get a square and follow a steep descent which goes to the residential area of " Baia S.Reparata". The dominant wind is the west one, while it's wholly repaired against the eastern one. The very clear seabeds and abounding rocks that surround the bay, make this place loved by scuba divers. While walking along the shore, it's easy to find very beautiful shells named "occhi di Santa Lucia" (S.Lucia eyes).

Palau
Palau is definitely one of the most spectacular and noteworthy seaside towns in Gallura and bordering the Emerald Coast.
It's also an important landing place for ferries coming from Corsica and the archipelago of La Maddalena.  Its modern harbour's development is tied to the entire extending coastline, offering a variety of golfi, dream-like bays, uncontaminatedspiagge and small rocky islands that emerge from a crystal-clear sea teaming with life.

Palau's artistically shaped coastlines are sculpted by the wind that generates a wide variety of shapes and forms in its rocks.  The most famous is that of dell'Orso.  Over thousands of years, the atmospheric agents have amazingly transformed this rock to unmistakably appear like a bear.  For those wishing to travel coast-to-coast while also visiting Palau's surrounding hinterland characterised by lush, Mediterranean vegetation, the Trenino Verde (green train) has been made available by Sardinia's Railway and has proven quite successful amongst tourists.  It's fascinating because it travels through road-less areas that would otherwise be inaccessible.

An unimaginable Sardinia appears from behind its glass windows, through forests, calm lakes and thick vegetation amidst which the train is forced to travel.  There are numerous itineraries to discover this corner of paradise.  For those deciding to adventure through Gallura, Palau is a destination not to be overlooked.  Tourists can choose from many destinations, some of the more famous include: Porto Rafael, Capo d'Orso, Costa Serena, Isola dei Gabbiani, Porto Pollo (surfers' paradise), Stintino's beautiful military fortresses, Capo d'Orso, Altura and Baragge.  Of the many Sardinian destinations, that of Palau should not be missed.

Porto Pollo
Porto Pollo in the sardinian language is called Porto Puddu. The bay is in the north of Palau. The scenery of incomparable beauty is offered by the crystalline sea and the islands of the territory of Maddalena. Not far away from the famous Island of the Gabbiani, paradise of the wind surfers
